What drinks are in fashion this spring?

Tequila, canned cocktails and lagers promise to be the hottest trends for spring 2022, with rosé and sparkling wine also on the rise.

This is what the latest data from Kaddy MarketAustralia’s leading wholesale drinks marketplace for discovery, ordering and payments, suggests, with a host of sun-friendly drink categories that have proven popular with the more than 3,000 sites that use the platform. Kaddy form.

What’s most interesting is that many of these popular products mirror global forecasts earlier this year, with the IWSR 2022 Key Trends Report released in January suggesting that high-end RTDs and spirits based on agave would be great global engines.

While aligning with macro trends, some of the hottest drinks this spring are uniquely Australian, as Kaddy co-founder Rich Coombes explains:

“Sales of the premium RTD segment and canned cocktails are booming, with sales doubling from early June. The favorites are also all locally made, including the non-alc hero Smug AF Margarita, the delicious Melbourne Martini Espresso Martini, Archie Rose Vodka Spritz Mango with Lime and Chilli & the Brix Spiced Ginger Beer & Native Finger Lime’

Coombes noted that the shift to more premium products is also impacting seltzers:

“We see the more serious brewed seltzers proving more popular than the blended examples, with the Temperamental Brewery W Seltzer & seltzer coast range of major movers”.

Speaking of big, the tequila and mezcal trend just can’t be ignored. In a recent IWSR briefing, agave-based spirits are expected to increase by 67% in value worldwide over the next four years. As Coombes notes, it’s no different with Kaddy.

“We’ve seen mezcal and tequila up 22% month-over-month since June and growing at a phenomenal 70% week-over-week since July. It will be the spring of the agave’

Another segment that is growing strongly is that of lager beers. This beer segment is experiencing a renaissance with 40% growth since early June on Kaddy Marketplace, according to Coombes.

“We’re seeing that popularity grow through a range of high-quality craft lagers, including Normal Pile Other Lager (which is alcohol-free), Bay White Beer, Young Henry’s Natural Lager, Yulli’s Seabass Mediterranean Lager & Two Berry Gluten Free Lager.’

Finally, the vivacious flavor of spring is seeing a typical uptick, with Coombes noting that sales of rosé and sparkling wines are up 50% since early June, with non-alcoholic examples of The Tautila & Zero Stone among the wines on the rise.
