First held in 2017, the golf day is used to generate funds for the Edenvale branch.

Committee member and fundraiser for Edenvale SPCA Laura with Udo Salchow of Edenvale SPCA.

With the arrival of the new season, Edenvale SPCA invited the community to enjoy the fresh air and come together for a good cause.

Edenvale SPCA board member and fundraiser Laura Vorster said it will be Edenvale SPCA’s first golf day in two years.

“The committee and volunteers are very excited to be hosting this event again,” said Laura.

As in previous years, the event will take place at Modderfontein Golf Course.

It will take place on September 22.

Funds generated from the event will be used to upgrade Edenvale SPCA facilities as well as cover overhead costs.

Laura said Edenvale SPCA plans to upgrade its kennels and second-hand shop.

“Upgrading our thrift store will allow for greater long-term sustainability and help the branch generate revenue for the branch,” Laura said.

Funds from the day will also be used by Edenvale SPCA to carry out awareness activities in communities such as Thembisa.

Laura said the SPCA will also use the funds to promote education and awareness about neutering and pet welfare.

To make the day a success, the Edenvale SPCA called on businesses and community members to sponsor a hole for the day.

Laura said holes can be sponsored for R1,000 each.

Alternatively, branded prizes, giveaways and raffle prizes can be sponsored to make the day even more successful.

Examples provided by Laura included drawstring bags, lip ice cream, sunscreen, water bottles, hand towels and golfer caps.

The cost per four ball is R4,000 but this will include a golf cart, dinner and prize giving.

Laura said a reduced price of R3,200 is available, however, this cost excludes the golf cart.

To raise additional funds, Edenvale SPCA is preparing to sell its annual calendars.

Laura said the final designs were recently agreed upon and community members can expect calendars to be available in the coming weeks.
