Video: Vibrant Spring Lamb Trade at Carnaross Mart
Tuesday (June 7) Agriland makes the trip to Carnaross Mart for its weekly sheep sale.
A strong influx of spring lambs that day was accompanied by brisk trading.
The majority of the lambs on offer were factory type lambs, with a few meat and shop lambs also offered.

In terms of price, spring lambs over 50 kg are sold from €170/head to €176/head.
Higher prices were observed twice for two purebred Texel ram lambs weighing 50 kg and 54 kg respectively, sold for €180 and €196.
The highest demand from buyers was for lambs in the 44-48kg weight bracket, with prices for these lambs generally ranging from €164/head to €172/head.
Some quality lambs weighing 42-43kg with good flesh cover pushed yields from €164/head up to €170/head in crates, but many in this weight range, and going back to 41kg, sold for €157-164 /head.
Half a dozen lambs weighing less than 40 kg to 30 kg sold from €107/head for 30 kg to what was one of the most remarkable prices of €159/head for a lamb pen. lambs of 39.5 kg.
