SPRING LAKE—Spring Lake senior Ty French will continue his football career in the fall after signing his national letter of intent for Alma College.

The Scots, a Division III college, finished last season with a 5-5, 1-5 record in the MIAA (Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association).

Ty has worked so hard for the past 4 years here at Spring Lake and I couldn’t be happier for him to have an opportunity at the next level,” said former Spring Lake coach Dan Start. “I know it’s been a dream of his for a long time.”

During his career at Spring Lake, French held several positions including quarterback, running back, tight end, offensive line, defensive line and linebacker.

That talks about two fantastic traits Ty has,” Start said. “The first is his incredible athleticism for his size, which Alma will quickly realize and use wherever they decide to play him. The second is his willingness to do whatever it takes for the team to succeed. That’s what what I like the most about him.

Ty is physically and mentally ready for the next chapter of his football career and I look forward to following his career over the next four years,” Start said.
