Ace & Jig’s Spring 22 assortment includes all new bespoke textiles

I made no secret that Ace & Jig is one of my favorite fashion brands of all time. Ever since I first laid eyes on their beautiful, often reversible textiles in 2014, I’ve been a devoted follower and fan.

When the world seemed to crumble over two years ago under the fog of a global pandemic, I worried about all my fashion favorites, and at the top of the list was Ace & Jig.

Ace & Jig has a cult following, thanks in large part to the brand’s quirky and colorful textiles, which are designed entirely in-house by founders Jenna Wilson and Cary Vaughan. It’s a painstaking process of collaborating with artisans in India to combine the colors and textures that will bring the designer duo’s visions to life. But the amazing and truly unique results are worth it.

One of the ways the team survived the pandemic was to use textiles from the previous season with new designs. Thank goodness it worked! And that makes their Spring 2022 collection even more exciting as they released their first new textiles in over a year.

Everything in this collection is fair trade certified and contains organic cotton. Read my interview below with the founders below to learn more about how Ace & Jig survived the pandemic and how the Spring 2022 collection is extra special.

Are these fabrics unique to Spring 22?

“Yes! After a year of using only our existing textiles, we were ready to create something really FRESH. You can really feel the happiness of textile creation shining through in this collection!

We love the natural pairings (or “textile sisters”) that occur throughout the season: illusion and fantasy, hoops and league, bounce and somersault; each of these textiles can be paired in totally different ways, but these duos woven throughout the collection are very special to us.

What was the inspiration for these fabrics and styles?

“After isolation, our goal was to try to focus on comfort, joy and sharing in community. Fabrics like Dance, our multicolored plaid textile, were inspired by a pair of vintage trousers and dance parties in the garden. Bounce, a large neon coral polka dot on a blue-green gingham, is waiting for a picnic at the beach! Bluffs, a super soft double canvas with Tundra on the reverse, reminds us of the simple pleasures and calm that nature can bring. And Link/Bridge is a textured plaid textile that reminds us of the concept of support and gathering.

Are there any new styles or shapes that you experienced for the first time in this collection?

“We’ve always designed with an emphasis on effortless styles, but now more than ever, we design ease and versatility into every silhouette. You can see it in the playfulness of the Bobby shirt, which pairs perfectly with the balloon pants or your own vintage denim. Or in our Sunrise Dress or Jo Jumpall, which work just as well at home as on the beach, at dinner or dressed up for an event!”

The last two years have been difficult for everyone, can you tell us briefly about your strategy to get through the pandemic? Are you seeing an increase in sales now that things are opening up a bit more?

“Like many, when Covid hit, we had to scramble to figure out how to keep our business alive. We took a hard look at what worked, what didn’t, and why we launched ace&jig. We have decided to reduce our activities and double our core values.

In 2021, instead of making new textiles, we creatively reinterpreted the remaining yardage to create our entire fall collection!

This has allowed us to use our energy and resources to advance our value-driven initiatives, and we are proud to announce that our manufacturing is now Fair Trade certified, our Spring 22 collection includes our first organic textiles, and we have an amazing regeneratively grown, handwoven and naturally dyed summer capsule in the works!”

You started slowly with extended sizes, how were these offers received by your customers?

“We started this journey in fall 2018 and have increased our size offering every season since. We are happy to now offer our entire collection in XXS-4X.

Our fitting process is to fit each style, on multiple people, multiple times. The best part of this process has been seeing new customers enjoying these styles!
