Daija Hammonds

Iced matcha chai latte and sunset tea are two drinks to try at Starbucks this spring (Daija Hammonds | Northern Star)

A new season means new drinks to try that are cool and refreshing. With a Starbucks on campus and another not too far away, it’s a good chance to switch it up with spring-inspired drinks ranging from cold brews and lattes to teas and refreshments. Here are five drinks to try on a hot day.

Sunset tea

You may already be familiar with peach green tea, but “sunset tea” adds more flavor to the original.

To order, ask for an iced peach green tea with lemonade and a splash of passion tea. It might seem like a lot of different flavors, but it’s not too overwhelming. It is a good balance between sweet and sour. If you want more sweetness, feel free to add cane sugar.

Depending on the size you get, the price ranges from $4 to $6. It also fades to a cool fuchsia color, making it great for photos.

Iced matcha chai latte

An iced matcha latte is already a hot weather staple, but this drink is perfect for matcha and chai lovers.

Ask your barista for a venti iced matcha green tea latte, add a pump or two of chai, and if you want, you can substitute whole milk for almond milk. If you are allergic to nuts, you can keep whole milk or substitute another of your choice.

The recipe calls for a venti size, which is about $6, but you can make any size you want. The drink remains a vibrant green color, which corresponds to the spring season.

Cold infusion of white mocha with salted caramel

This drink will suit those who need a little extra caffeine in the morning and also want a little sweetness.

To order, ask for a venti cold brew with a drizzle of caramel in the cup, four pumps of white chocolate mocha sauce, then a salted caramel cold mousse on top. It might give you a toothache, but it’s worth it.

The price is about $7 for a venti size, but if you want a smaller size, you can adjust the service suggestions.

fuzzy peach refreshment

If you’re not a fan of teas or lattes, an encore might be for you. Refreshments include lightly caffeinated juices, so it’s good to drink later in the day because you’ll still be able to sleep at night.

Ordering this drink is a bit long, but ask for a mango dragon fruit refreshment, but don’t include water or dragon fruit inclusion. Then add light peach juice, two pumps of vanilla syrup and a little coconut milk.

The price is around $7 for the venti size. It turns into a pretty peach color perfect for pictures and represents spring very well.

Strawberry passion lemonade

This final drink is ideal for people who already love strawberries açaí refreshment, but you want to try something a little different.

To order, ask for a strawberry açaí refreshing with lemonade, six pumps of raspberry syrup and a touch of passion tea. Serving suggestions work for any drink size and range in price from $5 to $6.

It’s packed with flavors, but they all work really well together.

These drinks are more expensive, but they are tasty and fun to try. Also, if you don’t want to use your own money, you can use Huskie Bucks or Dining Dollars.
