SPRING Impact, a global nonprofit leader in scaling social impact, announced the appointment of Mohamed Osman as CEO.
Since 2020, Mohamed has been the UK Director of Spring Impact, developing and leading strategy and operations for the UK office, as well as overseeing a portfolio of national and international projects.
Mohamed has 20 years of experience building partnerships, implementing and scaling programs in global health, social enterprise and humanitarian assistance in 25 countries. Previously Director of Global Grants at the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF), Mohamed spent a decade growing the Foundation into one of the world’s leading independent AIDS charities.
He succeeds Dan Berelowitz, founder and outgoing CEO of Spring Impact, who founded the organization based on his experiences starting and working in various social sector organizations, and his frustration at not seeing them grow. After a decade at the helm of the organization, Dan Berelowitz will now assume the role of “Founder” of Spring Impact.
Commenting on the transition, Dan Berelowitz said:
“I am extremely proud of all that the Spring Impact team has accomplished over the past 10 years. After a decade and so many wonderful stories and successes, now is a good time for others to pass on the mission to the next level.
“I couldn’t be more delighted to be replaced by Mohamed Osman, whose impressive track record in leading and building high profile programs and partnerships has enabled social change to happen over the past 20 years. Mohamed’s strategic and impact-oriented leadership will undoubtedly further the mission of Spring Impact with great success, leading it to thrive in its next decade and beyond.
Spring Impact is a global nonprofit whose mission is to increase social impact, so that good ideas change more lives. It partners with mission-driven charities, social enterprises and funders who tackle the world’s toughest social issues – from homelessness to extreme poverty.
Commenting on his appointment, Mohamed said:
“I am thrilled and honored to have been named CEO of Spring Impact and to lead its global strategy to increase the reach and effectiveness of nonprofits everywhere. I am deeply passionate about the idea that the impact of nonprofit organizations around the world could change more lives.
“The pace at which social issues around the world are accelerating must be responded to at scale with meaningful, agile and resourceful responses. Spring Impact’s unique and trusted methodology, approach and team are fully dedicated to supporting incredible social sector organizations and leaders whose work could help even more people.
“Over the past 10 years, we’ve partnered with more than 250 organizations around the world to help them grow and have a greater impact on the people and communities they serve. I am extremely excited to lead this work in the future and to work with ambitious organizations and funders seeking to make a dent in the world’s most pressing social challenges.
Spring Impact Board Chairman Peter Freedman said:
“As a UK Director, Mohamed has already demonstrated his exceptional leadership abilities as well as his deep passion for the social sector. The Board is confident that with Mohamed as CEO, the Spring Impact team will further build on the legacy of Dan Berelowitz, helping more clients deliver lasting social impact at scale.
“I would also like to pay tribute to Dan’s extraordinary accomplishments over the past 10 years and look forward to continuing to partner with him in his new role as Founder.”
