Spring 2022 fashion trends are on the rise

A new season means new fashion, and I’m ready to ditch beanies and chunky winter coats as much as you are. We’re seeing new trends this year, many of which involve bold patterns and colors, so goodbye to the basics! Let’s break down these rising trends and discuss how to style them.

Retro prints

The rising trend of retro prints is inspired by classic 1970s fashion. Mini skirts and dresses with floral and marble patterns can be worn in spring and summer to create the perfect holiday moment. If you need some spring break inspiration, these prints are trending in swimwear too.

Graphic Crewnecks

Oversized graphic tees entered the fashion world during quarantine, and crew necks are now following in their footsteps. Beachy boutiques sell crew necks with messages on the back such as “Have a nice day” or “Take care of yourself”. Pair these types of crewneck sweaters with denim shorts, leggings, or over a bathing suit as a beach cover-up on lazy days.

Matching sets

Matching sets take the stress out of matching pieces when putting together an outfit. Whether you’re out to dinner or relaxing at home, matching sets always create a matching look. If you’re looking for a fun and inexpensive DIY project, buy some plain white sweatpants and a hoodie and color them any color you like.

Matching sets are often worn by couples, siblings or parents/children. They are easy to put together and can be worn anytime, whether as pajamas or as an outfit outside the home. Shirts

This combination of a shirt and jacket exploded into the fashion world in the fall 2021 season. I talked about the shirt trend in my fall fashion piece, but spring calls for new ones. patterns and new colors. Many stores carry plaid prints in pastel colors as well as neutral corduroy prints that pair well with lightly faded jeans for a brunch outfit.

Silk dresses

For a more chic occasion, silk dresses are in fashion. They are comfortable for going out to dinner and are usually marketed in bright colors such as pink, blue, green and orange. The midi style of these dresses falls at the knee, which goes perfectly with chunky heels.

Shoulder bags

Big totes are out when it comes to Gen Z style. Shoulder bags with quirky handles are the perfect size to hold things like an ID card holder, lip gloss, and your phone. Choose nude shades to get the most out of this accessory with its color compatibility. If you have room in your wardrobe for an extra, opt for a hot pink or lavender shade to spice up a nude outfit.

Colored straight jeans

By now, we probably all have a pair of mom-style, high-waisted, or straight-leg dad-style jeans in our closets from the latest seasons’ trends. They are all always in style, so be sure to keep them handy for your daily outfits. Zara started the trend for colorful high waisted jeans, with the most popular options being emerald green, salmon and lilac. Just pair them with a white cropped tee and high top Converse.
