Makimoto leads boxer golf at NWC Spring Classic

LAKEWOOD, Wash.- The University of the Pacific men’s golf team took on all nine schools in the Northwest Conference this weekend in the NWC Spring Classic. The event was hosted by the University of Puget Sound at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Washington.

The Boxers were in eighth place after a 326 first round. A 322 second round was a four-stroke improvement, but the Boxers’ position would not change, resulting in an eighth-place finish in the event.

Kaleb Makimoto (Junior/Wailuku, HI) was the Boxers’ top finisher with a T-24 finish on the weekend. On day one he shot 78 and followed it up with an 80 on day two.

Nathan Johnson (Freshman/Montesano, WA) earned a T-32 finish with his two-day performance of 162. In round two, he shot 80 despite the many adverse weather conditions he faced.

Matthew Zaback (Junior/Corvallis, OR) rebounded on day two moving up three positions in the standings with his second lap 79.

Mason Rodewald (Freshman / Portland, OR) and Tyler Bryant (Freshman/Olympia, WA) rounded out the lineup with consistent weekend performances.


The Boxers will conclude the season on April 23rd and 24and at the NWC Championship in Salem at the Creekside Golf Club.
